A Yorkshire Duathlon Briefing Notes email will be landing in your inbox over the couple of days. Please check your junk mailbox if it hasn't arrived by Monday evening. It contains important information about compliance which we will all have to abide by in order to keep events like this happening during the current covid restrictions. Vitally it contains a link to a Health Check Questionnaire that all participants will have to complete and return prior to attendance.
Sprint Race Entrants. Be aware that you will not be able to leave the car park after 1250 until the Standard Race has finished around 1630. If you are told to stop your car by a race official whilst on Croft Circuit land you must do so. This is for the safety of participants.
Standard Race Entrants. Be aware that when you arrive part of the circuit access road leading to the car parking area is used by the Sprint Race runners. If you are told to stop your car by a race official whilst on Croft Circuit land you must do so. This is for the safety of participants.
The Sprint Race is now also non-drafting (covid) therefore tribars and TT bikes are now permitted.
We are aware of the road closure on part of the Standard race bike route. County engineers assure me that it will be open by April 16th. We do have detour route planned if not.
Outdoor events can now go ahead subject to extra conditions that the BTF have agreed with the government. It's mainly stuff that we have all by now become familiar with but there are differences to the way we have previously been able to conduct ourselves at races. It will greatly assist in the smooth running of this and other similar events if you put aside a few minutes to read the BTF guidance for participants at events
Locals may have noticed that Richmond Road, Croft is currently closed, this is part of the standard race bike route. NY County Council assure me that the road will be open again by April 18th. We do have a backup plan if not.
Under the Government "roadmap out of covid" this event will be permitted. But of course the roadmap may change, although the permitting of sporting events in the open air is all part of phase one which we are already into.
It now looks very likely that because of covid restrictions and particularly social distancing requirements that both the Sprint and Standard distance races will have to be individual starts rather than all starting together. The Sprint race will also have to be non-drafting.
- Start position will be based on race number which will be entirely random.
- It is anticipated that it will take 20-30 minutes to get everyone started in each race.
- Everyone will need to be out of transition and ready to start before the first runner sets-off.
From April 12th Camping is permissible. There will be a limited number tent/camper/caravan pitches (no hook-ups) available for Saturday 17th April only. Places need to be booked in advance. To reserve your camping pitch send an email only to email@example.com entitled Croft Camping and giving the race entrant's name. There will be a £5 per unit charge which is payable directly to Croft Circuit on arrival. Please have correct money. This fee will be for the additional overnight security.
Toilet and washing facilities are limited, please be independent if possible.
