2018 Briefing Notes

For more general information regarding the race please see the Race Information page

28/07/2018 - As the weather is looking like it is going to be cooler and wetter than of late remember to bring some post-race warm clothing. You will not be allowed back into transition until the last runner from the final wave has set-off on their run. There will be a bag-drop facility in the registration building for this purpose.

28/07/2018 - I have checked with British Triathlon, they confirm that if we do lose the swim and the race converts to a duathlon it will still count as a world's triathlon qualification event.

27/07/2018 - The weather forecast for Sunday is for high winds from the south. The forecast has changed markedly over the last few days and could of course change again before Sunday. If the RNLI, swim safety providers, advise on the day that conditions are not safe for swimming then the swim will be replaced by a 2.5k run. If the wind is a southerly then most of the bike route will be protected by the town centre buildings so shouldn't be too bad. I do not envisage that the event will have to be cancelled. Any update to the situation will be posted here as soon as we have one, but I think it is unlikely to change until we know exactly what we have on Sunday morning.

25/07/2018 - Slight change to run lap. Still in the opposite direction to previous years but adjustment to avoid having to run down steps. It does mean a tight turn around the rear of the boat hire building. Map on race information page has been updated.

This is a live document and updates after July 22nd will be be made in blue type. I strongly suggest you check these notes for last minute updates before leaving for the event.

Just a reminder. Your feet will be sandy when you get to your transition spot after the swim, you might like to put in an extra towel to clean them off quickly before putting your shoes on.
