The Spalding Sprint Triathlon organised by Sport by Design is now in its 5th year and still proves to be a popular event, with returning participants and competitors new to the sport. The event is taking place on Sunday 9th of September 2007 and will consist of a 400 meter pool swim, followed by a 20 kilometre cycle and culminates with a 5 kilometre run. The event starts and finishes at the Castle Sports Complex in Spalding and the cycle route follows a circular course, which travels out to Moulton and then back. The course is extremely flat and fast as the majority of the bike course is on light traffic roads over the Fens. The run is a two lap course around the Castle Sports Complex and surrounding foot paths. As well as the main triathlon event, family entertainment will be provided throughout the day for any youngsters who may wish to come along and support the participants.
The Individual Event
Open to anyone aged 16 and above on the day of the event. The whole course is completed entirely on ones own with no outside assistance, including in the transition areas. The start times will be seeded on approximate swim times with the competitors expected to take the longest out on the course first. There are no section time limits.
The Team Event
Here is a great opportunity for you to take part in a triathlon with a couple of friends. To compete in the team category, you will need 3 team members of either sex, one to swim, one to cycle and one to run. Change over between swim and cycle and cycle and run will take place in the Transition Area. Participants of 12 years old and above may take part in the swim or run sections of the team event. An East Midlands Regional Series Event
This year the Spalding Sprint Triathlon will be one of the East Midlands Regional Events Series Races which is running throughout the season. If your result at the Spalding Sprint Triathlon is one of your top 4 results from any of the races in the Regional Series it can count toward your final regional ranking, winners of which will be presented at the East Midlands BTA AGM towards the end of 2007.
If you do not have a current British Triathlon licence you must pay the non-members fee for insurance purposes. Licences will be checked at registration.
Your place is confirmed in the event by receipt of payment via the online method of entry or by the cashing of your entry fee cheque.
