Swim Route

This is the 2013 proposed swim route.

Swim 1.2 mile; There will be 3 swim waves based on declared swim time given on your entry form. Fastest swimmers will go in the first wave, slowest in the last wave. Please swim in your allocated wave, failure to do so will result in incorrect time calculation and make you subject to an additional time penalty. If you did not include an estimated swim time please follow the instructions at the top of this page to enter one. If the water temperature is below 13C the swim will have to be shortened, these are BT rules.
There will be safety kayaks and a rescue launch. If you get into difficulty, don’t panic, it’s hard to sink in a wetsuit. Lie on your back and hold an arm directly upwards, one of the kayaks will then attend to you. They will then tow you to the shore or to the safety launch if necessary. In response to feedback from 2012 race there will now be sighting bouys placed part way along the route on both the long stretches. the kayakers will be there to prevent you going too far adrfit but as with all parts of the triathlon it is your responsibility to know the course and turn in the correct places.
