THE 2009 RIPON TRIATHLON – IT’S THE BIGGEST THING OUTSIDE BOLTON !!! Ripon aims to be the largest ‘Club Run Triathlon in the UK’ in 2009 with an ambitious race limit of 750 athletes. As a club run race organised by volunteers with a generous sponsor and venue provider we are in the fortunate position that overheads are low and profit margins are in no way a motive. We can therefore offer everything that other events provide, and often so much more, for a down to earth entry fee. Despite the increased race limit we fully expect to fill well before race day so enter now and make Ripon your family mini break in 2009!

1500m open water swim – 44 km bike – 10 km run.

The swim is in Ripon lake. The cycle is a one lap challenging course and the run is an accurately measured 10km out and back course. Electronic chip timing with full split and transition times.
An excellent open water Triathlon (ideal for beginners and experienced Triathletes alike) set in a perfect location in the Ripon Racecourse grounds. NYP Tri has again teamed up with ‘only the best’ in event partners. TriHard Events will again provide their outstanding ‘on the spot’ results service and accurate splits thanks to their state of the art time chips. Wrecsam Tri will be supplying probably the finest aluminium racking system in the country (used at Bala and other major Triathlons). Sweatshop and Mizuno will once more be supplying our Tyvek numbers and Green Light Traffic Management will again supervise the effective signing of the entire bike course to ensure your safety and that of other road users. A fully secure transition area with 8 foot fencing is also guaranteed to ensure the security of all your equipment throughout the event.

There will be free camping for tents, camper vans and caravans on both the Friday & Saturday (this includes toilets, showers & wash facilities). A ticketed pasta party buffet will be available on Friday night and a ticketed BBQ on the Saturday evening as well as catering on site for breakfast buns, sandwiches, pasties, snacks, drinks, energy bars and other light refreshments over the entire weekend. This service will be provided by Fryton Catering Company and full details regarding the ticketed meals are available at www.nyptri.freeuk.com. There is a temporary liquor license for the venue and Fryton Catering Company will be able to offer Mashams finest Black Sheep Ale plus red and white wine on both evenings plus a selection of soft drinks for sale at very competitive prices. We do not charge our caterers a venue fee and we work closely with them to keep prices to an absolute minimum. All the savings we make are passed on to you and NYP Tri club makes no money from the on site catering. In addition there will be a Free to enter on the day ‘Childrens Dash Race’ and free children’s bouncy castles and bouncy slide on raceday. There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids on both evenings. If funds allow we also hope to offer a FREE attended climbing wall for children on race day ( New for 2009 ) as well as a childrens entertainer on Saturday evening. There will also be an Expo which will include stands from Sweatshop, KUDU Bikes, Skinfit, Cyclesense LIKEABIKE & Herbalite. Red Bull will also be handing out free cans of their drink to all competitors and Harrogate Spa Water have provided post race water for all those racing. Masseurs will also be available pre and post race and we have Boneshakers of Harrogate available on site for Free bike maintenance. Near to the attractive town of Ripon, its well worth a weekend trip with the whole family.

News of a credit crunch has not been lost on The Ripon Race Committee and all at NYP Tri are determined to offer athletes not only a great value for money race but a great value for money weekend away with family and friends in these increasingly difficult times.
