You can join NYP Tri Club by registering here and completing the online application form. Please write club name in this format: NYP Tri if a member when entering events.
The Club was established in 1993 by enthusiastic North Yorkshire Police Triathletes who competed in the original Helvellyn Triathlon, then called The Lakeland Slateman Triathlon. Like The Slateman Triathlon at that time the club was only open to Police Officers but It has since opened it's doors to the general public and as a result is growing from strength to strength. The roots of the club still rest with North Yorkshire Police but The 'P' in NYP now firmly stands for PEOPLE as well as POLICE. NYP Tri is North Yorkshire Peoples Tri and North Yorkshire Police Tri combined as one.
The Club has finished SECOND in the UK NATIONAL TRIATHLON & DUATHLON LEAGUE in 2000, 2001 & 2002 in the overall Team Competition. In 2005 club members won the First Male Duathlete and First Lady Novice. For the past 3 years we have won first individual in the Super Vet 50+ National Triathlon League Championships. NYP Tri Athletes continue to compete around the region, the nation and on the continent each year.
Our main objective is to assist new and experienced Triathletes who live or work within our area to enjoy the benefits of training, competing, travelling and socialising together. The club is spread throughout North Yorkshire and beyond and organises The UK's largest 'Club Run' Triathlon in Ripon each July, The NYP Tri Black Sheep Ripon Triathlon ( voted best Triathlon in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region 2007 by The BTF ) has a 750 entry limit and is the focus and pride of our club.
Athletes from the club competed in Australia, New Zealand, Florida, Antwerp, Switzerland, Lanzarote and many other locations both home and abroad in 2009 and athletes from the club will continue to compete at events far and wide in 2010.
We hold regular monthly spin and swim coached sessions each month at Ampleforth College leisure centre and have regular slots throughout the season for open water swimming at Ripon Racecourse Lake and we have a very active WIKI on our website whereby members arrange their own meets for runs and rides.
