2014 we are delighted to announce that the day will host not one but
two international qualification races. The Sprint Race will be a qualifier
for the ETU European Championships of 2015 and the Standard Race will
be the final qualifier for the 2014 World Championships in Spain. This
should mean that there will be some good standard athletes taking part,
but the races are very much still open to any anybody of any ability
who feels that they can manage the distance. A bit like the Great North
Run. The aim of Stockton
Borough Council and TriHard is to build this race into one of the premiere
duathlon events in the country catering for elite athletes as well as
absolute beginners over three separate races.
£2000 Cash Prize Fund
For Standard Distance Race Confirmed.This
is in addition to other age group prizes and will be divided £500
for first, £300 for second and £200 for third overall man
and woman. Many thanks to who are a major contributor to the prize fund.
The bike course will be on an exciting
fast and flat fully closed road circuit around
the Riverside and University area with plenty of twists and turns to
keep you on your toes.
The run will be over a 5k circuit based
on the New Infinity Bridge and slightly older Millennium Bridge taking
in the riverside walkways on the university side of the river.
The Novice Race is particularly aimed
at first timers or anyone that would like to try their hand at duathlon.
It's an opportunity to become actively involved in what should be a
great days' sport.
