2009 RACE NOW FULL.

We will be taking 100 reserves. If you wish to be added to the reserve list please enter as normal from the ONLINE ENTRY link to the right. As and when a place becomes available you will be informed and payment enabled.

This was a new event in 2008 and forms part of the four day Keswick Mountain Festival. The venue is superb and the course has to be most picturesque in the country. It sets an early season challenge, but does not have any mega climbs on the bike and you won't have to use your hands on the run. It's a great event in it's own right, but will also act as a taster for what you can expect in the "Day in The Lakes" Half Ironman in June and "Helvellyn" in September.

The transition area is in Crow Park over the road from the theatre. There will be other events taking place in the park, the program is not finalised yet, but keep checking the KMF website for details. The swim will be in crystal clear Derwent Water (wetsuits compulsory). The cycle section is all on road and follows a route through Keswick towards Thirlmere. Left along St John's in the Vale then along some minor roads before joining the A66 for a short and fast downhill section. It leaves the A66 at Portiscale and follows a fantastically scenic route around the lake and back to transition. The run follows the footpath along the lake shore before crossing Borrowdale Rd at Great Wood. It then follows the Terrace Path to the much photographed Ashness Bridge. At the bridge take the path over Walla Crag (325m) with more fabulous views and then drop back down to finish in Crow Park.

There will be a main open race together with a relay category (one swimmer, one cyclist, one runner). The race will be electronically timed by Race Timing Systems possibly the countries leading triathlon timing company. There will be lots of other things taking place on the race day as well as over the whole of the four day Keswick Mountain Festival. It should be well worth making an extended weekend trip. Entry limited to 300. This race filled very early in 2008, don't be disappointed. See the video of last years festival with footage of the triathlon by clicking here

Full details of the route and timings will be posted here shortly.
