(Entries Open 1st Novemebr)

The classic 1/2 Ironman distance or 70.3 whatever you want to call it. But over a fantastic and possibly the most challenging course in the country.

1.2 mile (1.9K) swim in Ullswater - England's most beautiful lake
56 miles (90k)cycle - including the Kirkstone Pass
12.5 miles (20k)run - mix of track, fell and road

The inaugural ADIL triathlon in 2009 was a tremendous success attracting entries from 480 athletes. Feedback was very good, the venue and course worked fantastically well. There are no planned changes to the course for the 2011 race.

The venue is superb with camping/caravans and all facilities on site at Park Foot.

As you might expect from a TriHard event the route will present quite a challenge. The swim will be in refreshing crystal clear Ullswater, Helvellyn competitors will know what I mean. The bike will be one loop taking in the Kirkstone Pass (from Patterdale) and Shap Fell. The run is not finalised, but will be a mix of road, track and fell along the base of Barton Fell taking in Howtown, Fusedale and Martindale.

There is also be a relay race comprising a separate, swimmer, cyclist and runner.

New for 2011. The Lake District is a great place for a days triathlon and it's a great place for a weekend stay. The transition field is massive with ample car parking and camping right on the field. That's fine for you while you are out enjoying yourself on the course but what about the rest of the family? This year there will be loads to do, we have arranged a series of outdoor focused activities particularly, but not exclusively, aimed at younger visitors. There will be a climbing wall, mountain bike skills course, small scoot along mountain bikes for the very young, archery, kayaking, raft building and racing and hopefully much more. There will also be catering facilities on the field and the real bonus over 2010....England aren't playing in the World Cup Finals.

Volunteers

We are always looking for marshals to help with races. If you help us with this or any of the other TriHard races we will look after you with a pre race meal the night before and we will also give you a free entry into any of our races for either yourself or a friend to use. If you would like to help us out then please contact us using the contact us link at the top of this page.

If

If you look very closely you can just see the line of swimmer across the lake.
