Paid
work in triathlon!! TriHard Timing are looking
for two people to be trained as race timers for next season.
Rates of pay are good, however the people we are looking for will need
to commit to a lot of often early start, long and stressful weekend
work throughout the race season. So if you want to do lots of racing
it’s not for you. A reasonable knowledge of triathlon will be
very helpful, but the ability to problem solve and some IT experience
is very desirable. If interested please drop me an email rob@trihard.co.uk
2011
in a Nutshell. A Short video compilation
of the the TriHard Events th at
those very friendly
and reasonably
priced SportSunday people attended. Many thanks to Dave and Laura.
November
1st sees the opening of TriHard Events entries for 2012
and as we are committed to providing safe, friendly and quality events
at a reasonable price we have reviewed our entry process for 2012. Something
that causes us big problems are late entries and late requests for refunds.
Many refund requests come about because people have entered races too
early and family members then decide to get married, have a holiday,
have children, etc, etc.
We are therefore trialing a new entry and refund process for 2012 events
which will be as follows:-
Entries for races in the first six months of the year, ie, Stokesley,
Keswick, A Day in the Lakes will open on 1st November 2011. Entries
for races in the second six months of the year, ie. Redcar, Lakeland,
Stockton, Helvellyn will open on 1st February 2012.
Refund policy for every race will be; up to 8 weeks before the race
refunds will be given less £5 admin fee; 8 to 4 weeks before the
race refunds will be given less £10 admin fee (by this stage some
entry expenses will have already been incurred); less than 4 weeks to
the race NO REFUNDS – NO ARGUMENTS!
Entry policy for every race will be; Once the race fills NO RESERVES
will be taken. However entries will REOPEN 4 weeks before the race to
fill any places made available by people withdrawing.
If the race doesn’t fill then 4 weeks before the race the entry
fee will increase by £5 and 2 weeks before the race the entry
fee will increase by £10, 1 week before the race entries will
close NO ENTRIES TO ANYONE – NO ARGUMENTS.
We hope that this will encourage people to enter races in good time
and alleviate the organisational difficulties caused by the trend to
enter races at the last possible moment.

I'm not too sure how BTF legal this is but it was certainly different
and caused some amusement to the thousands of spectators at the Stockton
Triathlon. The roads were closed. I see he has brakes fitted. Now I'm
no physicist but it's got to hurt your face if you pull them on too
hard. Picture coutesy SprotSunday.
Stockton
Triathlon Festival....Congtaulations to all those who
took part, and many thanks to all those who gave up their day to marshal
for us. Without either the race wouldn't happen. Once again the weather
was fantastic and the race provided a great spectacle for the centre

Fantastic
First Redcar Triathlon. Glorious sunshine,
flat sea and large crowds. Only
a small race but with a big race feel. Great atmosphere, it was more
like watching a crit than a triathlon. Well done to all that took part
and congratulations to Richard Anderson and Lucy Walker fastest man
and lady and winners of the Redcar Pier Trophy. Provisional

The
Ever Changing Redcar Tri. Cancel my post below. Numbers will
be strictly limited to 160. The hoped for move of transition
to a much larger area cannot now happen. There are quite a lot of seafront
alterations taking place at Redcar at the moment and as is often the
way with these things schedules change quite regularly. Ourselves, Redcar
and Cleveland Council, and Birse the main contractors are working closely
to provide the best facilities possible for the triathlon, however work
now needs to commence near to where the larger transition was planned
and the area is no longer available. We will now revert to plan A, which
means that we are restricted as to the space available for transition.
More
Good News For Redcar Tri. The numbers for Redcar were
restricted to 150 because of lack of space available for the transition
area. More space has just become available 100m further along the seafront
next to the lifeboat station. The transition and swim start has now
been moved there which means that we can now take at least 50 extra
entries. Entries are now re-opened.
Change
to Redcar Triathlon Run Route .Because of delays with some of
the seafront updating work
the run route for the Redcar Triathlon has had to be changed. It
will now comprise just one 5k lap heading east along the seafront to
a point just beyond Green Lane. It is still absolutely pan flat and
will make for a fast finish to what promises to be a very fast sprint
distance course. Don't forget that the bike route is 6 laps of a closed
road circuit right in the heart of the town which should make it very
exciting and spectator friendly triathlon course.
"A
Day In The Lakes" Final Results.
New
to triathlon and not too sure what what it's all about? Here's
the answer if you live in the Teesside area. Redcar
& Cleveland council are hosting a series of adult triathlon taster
sessions in the lead up to the Redcar Sprint Triathlon on July 31st.
Anyone over 16 is welcome to attend the sessions which will be led by
qualified British Triathlon coaches. Further details HERE.
Calling All Junior Triathletes. Entries
are now available online for this exciting open water youths and juniors
triathlon to be held at Hetton Lyons Country park located near Sunderland
in the North East of England. The park will be home to the Inter regional
championships in September so why not take the opportunity to race the
course before the IRC event.
The races are for ages 8 to 16 and are split into the standard Tri-Star
categories. The cycle and run are held on closed roads within a country
park and the distances have been set to fit into the Tri-Star categories.

 For
those that thought it was windy at Keswick over the weekend.
This was Derwent Water on Monday.
Keswick
Mountain Festival Triathlon... Conditions yesterday appeared
calm compared to today, wet, wild and windy a day for disc wheels it
wasn't. Well done to all those who braved the weather and started the
race and a thousand thanks to the marshals who stood for hours to help
you around the course.
Photographs were taken by and . Sports sunday also have some of the Derwent Island Swim
Derwent
Island Swim... Well done to the 195 hardy souls who
took part in the swim today, the conditions were brutal, lots of rain
recently meant that the lake was high enough to get in and out from
the park but the mud crawl to do so was interesting! The waves and the
wind on the far side of the island was also very challenging. Results

Marshals
for Keswick. Many thanks to all of those that answered
my appeal for a few more marshals for the Keswick Tri this weekend.
We got a fantastic response and I hate to turn down offers of help,
but I'm sure we have enough now. Thanks again.
Extra
Keswick Entries. We are getting our usual
rush of late withdrawals, all the reserves have now been used or have
failed to respond when offered places which means that entries have
re-opened. There are currently 6 places available in the Keswick Long
race and 4 in the Short race.
Countdown
to Keswick....The swim and triathlon races draw ever
nearer, race information will be emailed out to all competitors and
put on this site ONE WEEK
before the race.
Keswick
Mountain Festival Triathlon Places Auction. The ebay
auction for the four places available raised £200 for the festival's
chosen charity Nurture Lakeland. Thanks to all those that took part
and congratulations to the winners.
Lakeland
Triathlon Entries Finally Open. After lengthy negotiation
and assurances to the National Parks Authority and Natural England
the popular Lakeland Standard Distance Triathlon on August 13th has
been given the go ahead. We are privileged to be able to stage a triathlon
in such a beautiful and environmentally fragile area and certain,
not too intrusive, measures have had to be put in place to gain this
authority. Only conscientious and environmentally aware people to
apply please. Full details follow the Lakeland link in the left hand
column.
Stokesley Duathlon....Many
thanks to everyone who made this happen. The first TriHard event of
the season and after a bit of frantic route changing and the caretaker
opening up the Town Hall forgetting to do the hour, the sun shone
and all went well. Provisional results are now available .
Photographs of the day were taken by and will shortly be available on their website.

The multi-lap bike and run elements mean that it will be extremely
