A Day in the Lakes......
And what a day it was, congratulations to all taking part
and thanks to all the marshals that made it happen. Here
are the for the finishers, further upadate to follow.
Thanks..For
the magnificent response for marshals for ADIL this weekend.
We should now have enough to give the race really
good cover. I know we were making a generous offer, but
we value our helpers so much we are more than happy to look
after them. Should be a cracking weekend especially if the
weather holds.
Keswick Photos..The
stunning location of the Keswick Mountain Festival Triathlon
deserves the
best photographers. We
have been so lucky this year with
, and all producing fabulous image galleries.
Some pictures are there now, but each has more to come.

Festival Triathlon 2009...The
forecast pormised sunshine and showers and they were not
wrong, it didn't put a dampener on the triathlon though.

2009 ...
certainly our first race of the year and I'm sure the same
for most of you competing out there. Fine wins for Richard
Hunt and Donna Edmondson-Booker in the two lap race and
congratulations to Victoria Croxford and Henry Blackett
first lady and man in the shorter race. For those of you
who saw competitor 220, on the return of the leg of the
cycle in need of some medical attention, he is fine, a bit
bruised and shaken but nothing worse, also the refreshments
and t-shirts sale for the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre
made a grand total of £370 for which Ailsa Scoby is
very grateful, all she needs to do now is run London Marathon!
. Race Photos and
James Cracknell to
start Keswick Mountain Festival Triathlon.

Not only is James Cracknell giving a talk
at the Keswick Mountain Festival about his recent race to
the South Pole but he is to start and compete in the Triathlon.
It’s naturally a thrill to have a high profile athlete
taking part in the event, but to have a double Olympic Gold
Medal winner and multi-world champion is simply brilliant.
James is clearly an outstanding athlete, but the fact that
he is willing to take part in other events away from rowing
demonstrates that he is also a true sportsman.

Another Weekend Not
To Be Missed. The
Prince Bishops Triathlon (a personal favorite
of mine) has developed into a full weekend of triathlon
and other fun for 2009. There will be the usual beautifully
challenging Olympic distance race on the Sunday together
with a new Sprint distance race on the Saturday. The spectacular
venue and on site facilities at the Derwent Reservoir Sailing
Club are excellent with camping, bar, changing and showers
all available. The date for your diary is the weekend of
July 25th 26th.
Race promoter Richard
Coates says. "The Prince Bishops race committee are
currently concluding negotiations with Northumbria Water
and the Derwent reservoir sailing club to bring you a full
weekend of events around these two races. These will include
an expo on both days together with entertainment for the
children, a barbecue and bar on the Saturday night and camping
on site.
All of these and two great races in a fantastic location
should make for a great weekend for Triathletes from all
over the UK. We hope to announce full details in the near
future and any updates will be posted exclusively on this
site. In the meantime enter the races and wait for further
announcements." Entries are open now HERE
Scarborough Duathlon
April 26th is to be the Yorkshire &
Humberside Regional Duathlon Championships. The venue facilities
and course are superb and it's a rare opportunity to race
on closed roads. Full details

Disappointed
to have missed out on the Keswick Tri? Well
don't be, because we now have confirmation of another new
event just down the road at Bassenthwaite Lake (yes I know
it's the only lake in the Lake District). This race is a
collaboration between Tri Lakeland Triathlon Club and Trihard
Events. It will be a more conventional triathlon with the
bike and run both 'on road' and at worst described as undulating.
It will be over the Standard or Olympic distance and has
a very sociable start time of 1pm on Saturday 15th
August. Facilities at the venue are first rate
(including bar) and there is plenty of accommodation and
camping nearby. Ideal weekend away. Entries
are open now
Stokesley Duathlon
entries now open.
The date and venue for the Stokesley Duathlon has now been
confirmed and entries are now available online. The date
is Sunday 22nd March with its usual reasonably sociable
start time of 10am. There will again be a shorter novice
race and new for this year a team race comprising a cyclist
and one or two runners. So why not bring along those friends
or colleagues who always say "I would do, but I can't
run" or "I can't cycle".
Keswick Mountain Festival Tri 2009 - Full.
7/11/08. The entry limit imposed has now been reached. We
will be taking 100 reserves which will automatically be
added in receipt order. If you wish to be added to the reserve

page. Payment for reserve places will not be required until
a place is offered.

"A Day In The
Lakes" Triathlon. A
new event by TriHard for next year, Sunday June
28th. This will be a middle distance race (1.2
mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13 mile run) based at Pooley Bridge
on Ullswater. The venue is superb with camping/caravans
and all facilities on site at As you might expect from a TriHard event the route
will present quite a challenge. The swim will be in refreshing
crystal clear Ullswater, Helvellyn competitors will know
what I mean. The bike will be one loop taking in the Kirkstone
Pass (from Patterdale) and Shap Fell. The run will be a
mix of track fell and road taking in Howtown, Fusedale and
Martindale. There will also be a relay race comprising a
separate, swimmer, cyclist and runner. Entries for this
race are now open
Ripon Blacksheep
Triathlon
Saturday July 11th 2009 is now
taking entries on this site. This is a great weekend event
with a very sociable Saturday afternoon start time and an
even more sociable Saturday evening barbee. There is camping
at the venue all weekend and even a pasta party on the Friday
evening. Those in the know are already starting to get their
entries in. This race has been oversubscribed the last few
years.

Some interesting debate about the race, in particular the
rights and wrongs of shortening the course because of the
weather on TriTalk. Fortunately there were only the usual
minor injuries and it is therefore unlikely that I will
end up in court. I have just measured the shortened swim
route on Google Earth and it's about 1100m from where most
people started. The swim start was a bit random I know;
we'll sort that for next year. Hope the legs are sorting
themselves out and good luck with the rest of the season.

- the car park as advertised on the sports field will be
limited due to the weather, if at all possible avoid bringing
your car - car share or leave at the b&b, campsite if
you can to avoid unnecessary congestion.

Festival Tri 2009.This
years race was a extremely well received and sold out early
in the new year. The Festival dates for 2009 are May 13-17th
with the triathlon likely to be on Saturday May
16th. We are hoping to be able to increase numbers
for 2009, but that is far from certain at this stage. Entries
should be live on this site only by November 1st.

The 3 mile
climb of "The Struggle" will be just a bit more
pleasant this year as we have just heard that our application
to get it closed to all other traffic has been successful.
This together with waved starts means that we have raised
the entry limit to 700. If not already registered don't
get too excited just yet as the 117 reserves have been given
first refusal on the extra 100 places. They have until July
14th to pay for their entries, after which time any remaining
places will be up for grabs.

Middle Distance Tri. Entries
will close this Saturday (June 28th). If
you are registered and not yet paid, you are not entered.
Either get the cheque off quickly or pay online. This must
be the best value 1/2 Ironman race in the country, and it's
a fast course. Don't miss out.
Ripon Tri - make a weekend of it.
Message from the orgainser Mark Rees.
NYP Tri is offering free camping and facilities
on Ripon racecourse over the entire race weekend. They are
also hosting a Pre Race Pasta Party on Friday 11th July
and a Post Race BBQ on Sat 12th July, as soon as the race
is over. Whether you intend to sleep over or not why not
join in the festivities at Yorkshire and Humbersides best
Triathlon ( as voted by The BTF in 2007 ). Tickets are very
reasonably priced and booking is easy by revisiting TriHard
on line bookings as an existing user. If your booking options
fall outside the 4 offered on line then bookings can be
made directly with Race Director Mark Rees at markrees3@btinternet.com

and sponsors, Black Sheep brewery of Masham, are investing
over £1000 in attended and free to use bouncy castles,
slides, assault courses and a free kids dash race so there
will be plenty to do for all the family. Ripon....much more
than just a Triathlon!
Helvellyn Triathlon
An application has been made
to have 'The Struggle' closed to descending traffic. If
this is successful and the cost of implementing a diversion
are not prohibitive then we will be taking an extra 100
entries. There are currently 51 (as at 6/06/08) reserves
registered. If you wish to be registered as a reserve go
to the Helvellyn Tri online entry page and register via
one of the options at the bottom of that page.

Festival Triathlon - sorry we couldn't arrange
a bit more sunshine, but the cheer of the supporters brightened
the day. Well done to all those who took part -
Keswick Update -
May 2nd. Went for a swim from the transition
field (see picture). I have swam in colder water but it
was a long time ago. The thermometer said it was 13C, but
I'm not so sure it was telling the truth. However, even
now at that temperature the swim is definitely on. We swam
1500m and it was Okay. Full briefing details will be emailed
over the next week or so as well as linked from the Keswick
page on this site. To help with your planning registration
will be in the Marquee in Crow Park from 7-9pm on Friday
16th May. For those that can't make the Friday Evening there
will also be registration on Saturday Morning before the
race 7-8.30am. Race start will be wave 1 at 9am, wave 2
at 9.10am.
