Keswick Update 4 : 11.5C. Swam in Derwent water today. It is chilly but 11.5C means that it's looking good for a triathlon on Sunday. The forecast is for similar air temperatures to those we have enjoyed recently in which case it will likely only be cool at best on Sunday morning. You should carefully consider what you wear for the cycle section. I would suggest that a tri-suit only will be insufficient. It might tale a few seconds longer in T1 to slip a windproof top on but it will be time well spent.

If the water temperature remains the same the Derwent Island Swim will also still take place. Again I suggest you should consider what you do immediately you come out of the water. Have plenty of dry clothing to change into and perhaps a flask with a hot drink to hand would be a worthwhile item to have in your kitbag.

Keswick Update 3 : Please see below extract from and email sent to me today (Monday) from a Keswick local. I can't vouch for its accuracy of course, however I will be swimming in there on Wednesday so hypothermia permitting a first hand update will follow.

"How’s things? I just looked at the weather forecast and it’s looking generally good for the coming week, a few showers only. A friend measured the lake temperature a couple of days ago and it was 11.6 deg!!! Chilly but still swimmable."

A Day in the Lakes... we are introducing an increaed safety feature to A Day in the Lakes triathlon this year based on feedback from competitors, motorists and the safety advisory group. All competitors are to be prepared for poor weather conditions on both the bike section and the run section. For the bike section all competitors will be required to have a working back light on their bikes. On the run section all competitors will be required to have prepared a race bag containing full body cover - long arms and long legs, a map a compass and a whistle and knowledge of how to use them. If weather conditions are poor you will be told in the race breifing that this must be taken with you out on the run and spot checks will be carried out around the course. You will not be allowed into transition to rack your bike without both of these.

Stockton Triathlon Festival 2012....There is still a technical issue about water testing and limits in a moving body of water, entries will open as soon as possible, in the meantime register your interest via www.EntryLive.com and you will be emailed as soon as entries open.

2011 in a Nutshell. A Short video compilation of the the TriHard Events that those very friendly and reasonably priced SportSunday people attended. Many thanks to Dave and Laura.

November 1st sees the opening of TriHard Events entries for 2012 and as we are committed to providing safe, friendly and quality events at a reasonable price we have reviewed our entry process for 2012. Something that causes us big problems are late entries and late requests for refunds. Many refund requests come about because people have entered races too early and family members then decide to get married, have a holiday, have children, etc, etc.
We are therefore trialing a new entry and refund process for 2012 events which will be as follows:-

Entries for races in the first six months of the year, ie, Stokesley, Keswick, A Day in the Lakes will open on 1st November 2011. Entries for races in the second six months of the year, ie. Redcar, Lakeland, Stockton, Helvellyn will open on 1st February 2012.

Refund policy for every race will be; up to 8 weeks before the race refunds will be given less £5 admin fee; 8 to 4 weeks before the race refunds will be given less £10 admin fee (by this stage some entry expenses will have already been incurred); less than 4 weeks to the race NO REFUNDS – NO ARGUMENTS!

Entry policy for every race will be; Once the race fills NO RESERVES will be taken. However entries will REOPEN 4 weeks before the race to fill any places made available by people withdrawing.

If the race doesn’t fill then 4 weeks before the race the entry fee will increase by £5 and 2 weeks before the race the entry fee will increase by £10, 1 week before the race entries will close NO ENTRIES TO ANYONE – NO ARGUMENTS.

We hope that this will encourage people to enter races in good time and alleviate the organisational difficulties caused by the trend to enter races at the last possible moment.

Middlesbrough Marie Curie Cancer Care Duathlon. 52 competitors set off in the unseasonal blazing heat and over £550 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Provisional Results, race report to follow....

Helvellyn Triathlon ....Well that is the last TriHard race of the season and what an ending, after the endless rain all day saturday, sunday was hot and sunny. Martin Cain won the race and set a new course record of 3:27:50 beating Alistair Brownlee's previous best by 24seconds, I feel a rematch coming on next year! Provisional Results HERE. Stockton Triathlon Festival....Results updated on links below. I'm not too sure how BTF legal this is but it was certainly different and caused some amusement to the thousands of spectators at the Stockton Triathlon. The roads were closed. I see he has brakes fitted. Now I'm no physicist but it's got to hurt your face if you pull them on too hard. Picture coutesy SprotSunday.

Stockton Triathlon Festival....Congtaulations to all those who took part, and many thanks to all those who gave up their day to marshal for us. Without either the race wouldn't happen. Once again the weather was fantastic and the race provided a great spectacle for the centre of Stockton. Photos are available from Sports Sunday and Provisional Results are MINI - SPRINT - STANDARD. Due to the power cut we are still missing some split times - please bear with us a full set of results will be updated here as soon as possible.

Helvellyn Triathlon. The 2011 Helvellyn has been full for a while. As the reserve list is now over 100 that has also now been closed off. We have no plans for a second reserve list, sorry. Entries for the 2012 event will open on November 1st along with all other TriHard races. We very much appreciate the support our events are receiving.

Fantastic First Redcar Triathlon. Glorious sunshine, flat sea and large crowds. Only a small race but with a big race feel. Great atmosphere, it was more like watching a crit than a triathlon. For those that thought it was windy at Keswick over the weekend. This was Derwent Water on Monday.

Keswick Mountain Festival Triathlon... Conditions yesterday appeared calm compared to today, wet, wild and windy a day for disc wheels it wasn't. Well done to all those who braved the weather and started the race and a thousand thanks to the marshals who stood for hours to help you around the course.

Photographs were taken by Action Replay and Sports Sunday. Sports sunday also have some of the Derwent Island Swim

Derwent Island Swim... Well done to the 195 hardy souls who took part in the swim today, the conditions were brutal, lots of rain recently meant that the lake was high enough to get in and out from the park but the mud crawl to do so was interesting! The waves and the wind on the far side of the island was also very challenging. Results HERE. Photogtaphs of the event courtesy of Sports Sunday
